INSTRUCTOR TRAINER COURSE CONTENT
 | | PURPOSE OF THE COURSEThis is the highest instructor qualification in the RAID system. Application by RAID Speciality Instructors, renewed Instructor Trainers and/or Course Directors from recognized training agencies will be considered. |
PREREQUISITES
Subject to the General Diving Standards:
- To be a minimum of 21 years old.
- To be a renewed RAID Rebreather Instructor for at least 12 months.
- To have a minimum of 150 logged hours underwater on a CCR/SCR rebreather, with at least 40 hours carrying a side sling alternate air source.
- To have certified a minimum of 25 students between RAID Levels 1 to levels 4, of which 15 certifications are for Rebreather levels.
- Submit a current Rescue Breathing/CPR and Oxygen Provider Instructor certificate (DAN or equivalent).
- Documented proof of prerequisite requirements needs to be presented to the Examiner for approval prior to any in water training.
- Complete on-line the Instructor Trainer programme.
CROSS OVER / ACCREDITATION PROGRAMME
A certified and renewed Instructor Trainer may apply in writing to RAID HQ for accreditation with respect to application for RAID Instructor Trainer certification.
A certified and renewed CCR/SCR Instructor Trainer/Course Director, with a minimum of 150 logged hours or 250 logged dives on a rebreather, with 40 hours logged or 80 logged dives carrying a side sling alternate air source, from a recognised training agency can cross over to become a RAID Registered CCR Instructor Trainer following the minimum requirements:
- To be a minimum of 21 years old.
- To be a renewed Instructor Trainer/Course Director for at least 12 months.
- To have a minimum of 150 logged hours underwater on a CCR/SCR rebreather, with at least 40 hours carrying a side sling alternate air source.
- To have certified a minimum of 35 students from entry level to instructor, of which at least 5 certifications are instructor level.
- To submit a RAID Level 3 CCR Rescue certificate, and/or equivalent and/or complete, to the satisfaction of the Examiner, the in water skills of the CCR Rescue course, whilst carrying a side sling alternative air source cylinder.
- To submit RAID Navigation, Night/Restricted Visibility and Deep certificates (of which at least 40 hours are between 27-40 m/89-32 ft) or equivalent.
- Submit a current Rescue Breathing/CPR and Oxygen Provider Instructor certificate (DAN or equivalent).
- Documented proof of prerequisite requirements needs to be presented to the Examiner for approval prior to any in water training.
- Complete on-line academics Rebreather Levels 1, 2, 3 and Instructor Trainer.
- At the discretion of the RAID Examiner or RAID HQcomplete an InstructorTrainer Development Programme (ITDP) with a RAID Examiner and/or assist with an Instructor Development Programme (IDP) with a certified Instructor Trainer and/or be evaluated during an IDP by a RAID Examiner.
NOTE: the above requirements does not guarantee acceptance by RAID who has the sole decision to accept or ask for further requirements to be met.
INSTRUCTOR TRAINER DUTIES
A Certified Instructor Trainer shall be authorised to:
- Conduct all RAID Diver Training programmes, Instructor Courses and Speciality Instructor programmes.
- Observe and assist on RAID Instructor Trainer programmes.
- Promote the RAID System of Education.
COURSE CONTENT
The candidates will be evaluated and are required to meet the minimum score criteria for the following:
- Prepare and Present Risk Management Schedule (RMS) for a Dive Site and Dive Briefing.
- Prepare and Present How To prepare a RMS.
- Prepare, Present and evaluate Academic Lesson Presentations (ALG).
- Presentation on How To Prepare and Present an Academic Lesson Presentation.
- Prepare, Present and Evaluate:
- Dive Site Briefing
- Dive Evaluation
- In water assessment
- De-briefing
- Overall control, participation and professionalism
- Complete sections and/or in water skills from confined and/or open water sessions as required by any of the following: Levels 1, 2, 3, 4 and/or Instructor Level.
- Complete the in water stamina skills as required by the RAID Instructor Level.
CERTIFICATION
To be certified the Instructor Trainer must have:
- Completed a RAID Instructor Trainer Development or Cross Over Programme or meet the cross over requirements.
Speciality Instructor Trainer
- Application for Speciality Instructor Trainer Certification on request.
TRAINING INSTRUCTION
The RAID Instructor Trainer Courses are conducted by RAID Examiners.
