Evolution / Inspiration Vision Rebreather Specialty

INTRODUCTION

The Classic Inspiration was launched in 1997 and was the world's first production closed circuit rebreather.

The Classic Inspiration brought the benefits of rebreather diving to the forefront and quickly became the choice of many divers and film makers alike, ranging from recreational diving to 100m/328ft expedition dives.

Over time the Vision electronics were developed and now the Inspiration is also available as the Inspiration Vision. The existing Classic Inspiration units can be retro-fitted with the Vision package. This upgrade consists of the Vision electronics head on a new Inspiration-size 2.5kg scrubber unit, the Head Up Displays, and wrist display with all the options.

The smaller Evolution was built on the foundations of the Inspiration taking the best of its features into a more compact unit.

The Inspiration offering advantages in scrubber duration and the Evolution offering advantages in size and weight, the choice between the two has now further developed the Evolution+.

The Evolution+ combines the 2 litre cylinders from the Evolution and the larger scrubber as used on the Inspiration, all housed in a case giving the best of both worlds.

This programme covers the requirements to dive the following units fitted with the Vision electronics:

• Inspiration
• Evolution
• Evolution +

One programme to cover all three units!

PREREQUISITES

• Minimum age is 18 years at the start of training.
  
  
• A non certified diver - wanting to learn to dive a unit specific rebreather and enter this RAID training programme:
  
  A non certified diver CANNOT complete this programme.
  
  
• Certified Rebreather or Open Circuit Diver - wanting to extend their experience to dive a unit specific rebreather and enter the RAID training programme:
  
  A certified diver from another recognized training agency wishing to complete a cross over will complete the RAID core Rebreather Level 2 or higher programme where the diver meets the relevant core rebreather and this speciality prerequisites.
  
  The student will complete the skill requirements for the core rebreather level and this speciality.
  
  
• RAID Certified Rebreather Diver - wanting to extend their experience to dive this unit specific rebreather:
  
  For a RAID certified Rebreather Level 2 diver or higher, the skill requirements of this Speciality will be "stand-alone" and your RAID rebreather Speciality instructor will discuss the various training dives and how each skill will be approached.
  
  The RAID rebreather diver may combine this speciality with the next core rebreather level of training.
  
  
• RAID Certified Open Circuit Diver - wanting to extend their experience to dive this unit specific rebreather:
  
  The RAID diver may only start at the rebreather Level 2 or higher where the diver meets the relevant core rebreather and this speciality's prerequisites.
  
  The student will complete the skill requirements for the core rebreather level and this speciality.
  

SPECIFIC STANDARDS

These Standards are forming part of, and are in addition to, the RAID General Diving Standards.

Ownership

By the end of this unit specific training course you need to own and/or have possession of an Inspiration/Evolution with vision electronics manufactured by AP Diving LTD of England.

Eye Test

You are required to pass the manufacturer's vision eye test, as found in the user manual. Your RAID instructor shall check this with you; by requesting you to read out the test whilst wearing a mask that you intend to wear underwater. (Refer to user manual).

Dive Computer

This Specialty requires your dive computer to have the minimum of the Nitrox version of the manufacturer's decompression software.

In Water Training

You will be required to complete a quick written quiz with your instructor prior to the commencement of any in water training.

For your instructor to be able to incorporate all the skills required in this Speciality, the dive times specified in your RAID core rebreather level of in water training shall be extended by a minimum of:

• Confined water: 1 hour (60 minutes) extra
  
• Open water: 1 hour (60 minutes) extra

NOTE:

Students with no previous rebreather experience - the confined water training shall be a minimum of 2 hours (120 minutes) or more as required for mastery.

Students completing a cross over - the minimum total time shall be 1 hour confined water and 1 hour open water.

CERTIFICATION

The minimum logged hours, as detailed have been completed.

All confined and /or open water skills have been acknowledged and accepted on-line (through the RAID web site) as mastered by your certifying RAID instructor and yourself.
