INSTRUCTOR OPEN CIRCUIT

PURPOSE OF THE COURSE
This programme is designed to train qualified RAID Level 4 Dive masters or equivalent, to teach the RAID Open Circuit programmes from Level 1 through to Level 4.
After successfully completing the Instructor Development Course, you take responsibility for teaching divers to SCUBA dive whilst using open circuit air/nitrox.
During the Instructor Development Course, you will review the General Diving Standards; in water training methods; practical teaching; philosophies, and academic presentations.
The programme is designed to train you in the use of the RAID programme to teach open circuit nitrox diving with no decompression, up to 1.4 PpO2 and to a maximum depth of 40 metres/132 feet.
PREREQUISITES
- To be a minimum of 18 years old.
- Completed and passed RAID Open Circuit Levels 1, 2, 3 and Instructor academic sections Quick Quiz and Exams.
- To be a certified diver for at least 12 months prior to in water training.
- To be certified as a RAID Level 4 Dive master or equivalent certification from a recognised training agency and/or complete, to the satisfaction of your instructor trainer, the minimum in water open circuit Level 4 skills. Your instructor trainer is to evaluate these skills.
- To have a minimum of 60 logged underwater hours using open circuit and/or rebreather.
- To submit a RAID Level 3 Rescue certificate, and/or equivalent and/or complete, to the satisfaction of your instructor trainer, the in water skills of the Level 3 Rescue course.
- Submit a current Rescue Breathing/CPR Training and Oxygen Provider Instructor certificates. (DAN/equivalent).
Documented proof of prerequisite requirements needs to be presented to the RAID Dive Centre and Instructor Trainer for approval prior to any in water training.
Complete an Instructor Development practical programme with a RAID Instructor Trainer or Examiner.
OPEN CIRCUIT INSTRUCTOR CROSS OVER
A certified and renewed Open Circuit Instructor can cross over to become a RAID Open Circuit Instructor, after meeting the following:
- To be a minimum of 18 years old.
- Completed and passed RAID Open Circuit Instructor academic sections Quick Quiz and Exams and sign off the cross over in water skills.
- To be a certified renewed instructor from a recognised agency.
- To have certified divers between basic open water to dive leadership levels or be a certified Instructor Trainer / Course Director from a recognised training agency.
- To have a minimum of 60 logged hours underwater or 120 logged dives.
- To submit diver certifications for Navigation, Night/Restricted Visibility, Nitrox (of which at least 10 hours or 20 logged dives for each is required) and Deep (of which at least 10 hours or 20 logged are between 27-40 m/89-132 ft is required) or equivalent.
- Submit a current Rescue Breathing/CPR Training and Oxygen Provider Instructor certificates. (DAN/equivalent).
Documented proof of prerequisite requirements needs to be presented for approval.
At the discretion of RAID HQ and/or Dive Centre and Instructor Trainer complete Instructor Development practical programme with a RAID Instructor Trainer or Examiner

OPEN WATER INSTRUCTOR DUTIES
A certified RAID Open Circuit Instructor is able to, within the Terms and Conditions of the RAID General Diving Standards:
- Teach persons to dive whilst using Open Circuit equipment only.
- Supervise and/or lead recreational and/or open circuit training activities.
- Assist a lead RAID Registered Instructor during in water training sessions for all courses or subject to the Speciality programme.
- Guide dives for certified divers to a maximum depth of 40 metres/132 feet.
- Accompany students during in water training exercises.
- Maintain RAID membership.
- Maintain a dive leader attitude at all times when representing RAID.
